USED BATTERY SORTING METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method for sorting used batteries of different shapes and sizes and different chemical compositions, wherein the batteries are mechanically sorted according to shape and size, then sorted according to their chemical composition. During the latter sorting, an inductive reaction representing the battery's ferromagnetic mass and its distribution is generated by the passage through a coil (19, 53) of a battery (52) moving at a constant speed.
