The cable has a flexible conductor band (2) helically wound around the outside of an elastic core (1). The conductor band (2) comprises a number of loose overlying flexible strips carrying spaced electrical conductor wires (4). The gaps between the adjacent windings of the conductor band (2) are used as contacts shafts (7a..7d) into which contact plugs (6) can be fitted, for contacting the conductor wires (4). Pref. the conductor wires (4) comprise active conductors and screening conductors arranged in alternation adjacent one another and in the layer direction.
