<p>A wire guide assembly (16) including a guide member (76) having a bore (82) that increases in diameter toward a first opening (84). The guide member (76) is pivotally supported to allow the wire electrode (12) to travel at an angle for taper machining. Fluid under pressure is directed through the guide member (76) for flushing the workpiece cutting area. The guide member (76) incorporates wear-resistant materials such as natural diamond, diamond film, synthetic diamond, ceramic, carbide, sapphire or cubic boron nitride, for enhancing its wear characteristics.</p> |
