PURPOSE:To automate a tool grinding operation and to save energy by a method wherein the correlation of mating between the tool face to be ground and a grind stone grinding surface is detected through a limit switch and the feeding amount of the grind stone is determined by a microcomputer, when a tool for wood working is groud. CONSTITUTION:The grinding process is stored within a microcomputer 41 so that a feeding mechanism A may feed a grind stone 18 at an optimum quantity by every reciprocating movement of a carriage. When a pulse motor 24 of the feeding mechanism A is rotated, an elevating board 16 descends and when the grind stone 18 touches a detector 25, the feeding mechanism A stops the operation. At this time, the grinding face of the grind stone 18 and the tool surface to be ground 11 are mated and a feeding amount reference position is determined. Next thereto, the feeding mechanism A repeates the movement of the grind stone 18 by a feeding amount determined by the microcomputer 41, and at the same time, the carriage takes one reciprocating movement. Next, the grind stone 18 is fed forward for the next feeding amount. With this repetition, the tool grinding can be automated and energy can be saved. |
