The high speed grinding mill produces a very fine powder has a rotor (13) which is rigidly fastened to a belt driven shaft. The rotor is so shaped that it is uniformly stressed when being rotated and operates in a housing with a narrow gap (15) between rotor and the inner surface of the housing wall. The width of this gap reduces in the radially outward direction. The housing has openings (9, 10) to receive the material to be ground and the air in which the material is suspended. The housing has an annular channel (14) which directs the ground material to the outlet (8).
