In continuous extn. of high-boiling or non-boiling but melting mixts. of organic substances, with CO2, propane, butane, pentane, petroleum ether and/or water, at a temp. (T) higher than the critical temp. (Tk) and a pressure (p) higher than the critical pressure (pk), the pressure (p) is below 400 bar, and the temp. profile over the extn. column is such that in the distn. part of the column the temp. is sufficiently low to ensure optimum soln. in the solvent of the components to be extracted, and the temp. in the concn. part of the column is sufficiently high for the continuous withdrawal of a pasty extn. residue from the column sump.
