Tilt monitoring system esp. for heavy goods vehicle - is based on orthogonal potentiometers acted upon by damped pendulum responsive to longitudinal and transverse tilts

A housing (1) fixed to the chassis encloses a pendulum (2) damped by two springs working in orthogonal direction. The movements of the pendulum are translated by crossed potentiometers (3) into electrical signals corresp. to tilt of the vehicle in longitudinal and transverse directions. Visual and audible alarms are given when an adustable critical limit of tilt is exceeded. The device can indicate transverse accelerations by acting as a centrifugal pendulum for stabilisation around curves. ADVANTAGE - Uniform loading is guaranteed for correct positioning of centre of mass, and risk of overturning is avoided.
