New metal lake of diazo cpd. used as pigment - prepd. from amino chloromethyl or di:chlorobenzene sulphonic acid and sulpho-phenyl methyl pyrazolone

New Ca and Sr lakes (I) of 4-chloro-5-methyl- or 4,5-dichlorobenzenesulphonic acid (2-azo-4) 1-(3'-sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are of the formula: R = Cl or CH3; Me++ = a Ca or Sr ion. The prepn. of (I) is claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are claimed for pigmenting natural or synthetic polymers, opt. contg. solvents, printing inks and paper. (I) have excellent fastness to heat, bleeding and light. They are useful e.g. in paints, thermoplastic and thermosetting resins, e.g. (co)polystyrene, polyolefins (polyehtylene, polypropylene), polyvinyl cpds. (PVC, polyvinyl acetate), rubbers, artificial silk (viscose, cellulose ethers), cellulose esters, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters (polyglycol terephthalates, esp. PET, PBT and copolyesters) and polyacrylonitrile.
