摘要 To measure the amt. of foreign matter in fluid, esp. water, the fluid is brought into contact with a carrier gas in a mixing chamber (16). The fluid and the gas are mixed so that the foreign matter is at least partially brought into a gas phase, and the gas mixt. is passed to a gas sensor (30) to determine foreign matter present. A separating chamber (28), connected to the mixing chamber (16), separates the mixed gas and fluid from the chamber (16). The gas sensor (30) is at the upper section of the separating chamber (28), and the water flows out of the separating chamber (28) through an outlet (33) at the underside with an overflow cap (32). A heater (23) is at and pref. in the mixing chamber (16), and a thermal sensor (25) registers the temp. of the fluid leaving the mixing chamber (16). A bypass channel (34) can carry the carrier gas passing round the mixing chamber (16) directy to the gas sensor (30). USE/ADVANTAGE - For monitoring presence of hydrocarbons and halogenated carbon in the fluid, to prevent environmental damage, and also to monitor communal and industrial waste water. The technique can detect small concentrations of foreign matter in a simple operation.
