PURPOSE:To provide a joining body of scintillator blocks with high resolution and less non-sensitive part by joining scintillator blocks in the number greater than the number of photo-multiplier tubes with the beam incident windows of these tubes, and joining the size of the beam emitting area of scintillator block group with the incident windows. CONSTITUTION:The number of photons to be counted by a photo-multiplier tube 11 upon light emission from a scintillator block 31a will be greater in probability terms than the number of photons to be counted by the same tube 11 after light emission from another block 31b. In the same manner, the number of photons due to light emission from this block 31b will be greater in probability terms than the number of photons due to light emission from a block 31c. The numbers of photons due to light emission from blocks 31d, 31e, and 31f lessen one by one in the sequence as named. From this fact, which scintillator block being in light emission is determined from the statistical frequency using the number of photons counted by the tube 11.
