The pipe end widening out device comprises a base (2) and a longitudinally displaced carriage (8) acted on by a pressure cylinder (3), with a second pressure cylinder (4) acting on a widening out mandril (22) displaced perpendicular to the carriage axis, to project into the end of the pipe. In an initial pressure phase, the carriage (8) with the opposing clamp plates (16, 17) for the pipe end is displaced towards an end stop (10), unitl a defined pressure is reached. At this pressure the second pressure cylinder (4) is moved in the direction of the pipe end. The carriage (8) is then returned to its original position ofr removal of the pipe end before moving it into a ready position with the clamp plates (16, 17) slightly apart. The machine may include an electronic controller connected to light barriers (41, 42). ADVANTAGE - Rapid operation with automatic sequence control.
