The central differential comprises an epicyclic gearing (1) with one central gear (5) driving one azle (7) and an outer gear (5, 8) driving the second axle (10). The pinions/bevel gears (15/21) that drive the two axles have different sizes and run at different speeds. The faster speed axle (10) thus takes the larger fraction of the total torque. If the stronger driven axle starts to loose traction progressively more torque is transferred to the other axle. The transfer of torque is controlled by a variable grip clutch (11). ADVANTAGE - Simple central diferential, progressive torque control.
