A slide bolt for melting pots is disclosed having one bottom plate fixed to a bottom cartridge linked to the pot and a sliding plate arranged in a sliding cartridge and linearly movable with respect to the bottom plate, whereas the sliding cartridge is movable on guides linked to the bottem cartridge and two clamping members are symmetrically arranged with respect to the outlet for pressing the sliding plate against the bottom plate. In order to simplify the design of such a slide bolt and make the refractory plates more easily accessible, the sliding cartridge (26) has two rod-like guiding sections (25) arranged on its longitudinal sides that extend parallel to the axis of displacement and that are guided in two guiding blocks (19) arranged on both sides of the axis of displacement, symmetrically to the outlet (13), and are linked to the bottom cartridge (16) fixed to the pot. The guiding blocks (19) are movably mounted on the bottom cartridge (16) and receive the clamping members (23).
