PURPOSE: To provide an optical mold which can be produced by a simple, economic method and has a high flexibility, high fracture strength, and good permeability and which can be used while being heated and has a core/clad structure. CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of the optical mold, polysilazanes or polyhydridochlorosilazanes are compressed to obtain a mold or dissolved into a solvent and extruded and then exposed to a gas atmosphere at a temperature within the range of 10-200 deg.C and at a relative humidity in the range of 20-100% for 0.1-24 hours. The molded item has a core/clad structure and the clad structure contains 1-3 wt.% of carbon atoms, 20-25 wt.% of nitrogen atoms, and 30-40 wt.% of silicon atoms, and the core structure comprises 100% of polysilazanes or polyhydridochlorosilazanes. |
