TOE CLAMP

The invention relates to a toe clamp (1) with a housing (2) in which is fitted a release spring (40). The release spring (40) bears upon a tension rod (10) passing through it which acts via a release plate (13) on the shorter lever arms (36) of two toggle levers (35) which can pivot on a bearing component (20) about vertical axes (34) and the longer lever arms of which take the form of sole clamps (37). The bearing component (20) has a through aperture (21) for the tension rod (10) and has a forward supporting surface (23) which bears at least partly on a rear transverse wall (3) of the housing (2). A section (6) runs virtually horizontally rearwards to the rear transverse wall (3) of the housing (2). The forward supporting surface (23) of the bearing component (20) has two sections (25, 26) mutually adjacent in the upward direction. According to the invention, the rear transverse wall (3) of the housing (2) is substantially vertical. A further feature of the invention is that the lower section (25) and the upper section (26) include between them an obtuse angle ( alpha ) and the upper section (26) of the forward supporting surface (23) adjoins a surface (28) inclined backwards and downwards.
