There are two cattle boxes (1,2) each with a suction point (3,4) and an associated automatic feed supply (5) with two pipes (7,8) leading to the two suction points. One supply pipe (7) has a temperature gauge (9) and the other a shut-off member (10). When a young calf sucks on the suction point (3) the temperature rises at the gauge as the heated milk flows along, leading to the closure of the shut off member in the supply pipe (8) to the other suction piont (4) located in the box (2) for the older calves. When the young calf stops sucking so the other suction point is opened for the older calves. If a mixture for the older calves is located in the drink basin (6) this can be diluted so it is suitable for the younger calves. ADVANTAGE - Smooth orderly feeding of the calves is possible.
