In a navigation system, a destination (Td) and route positions (T1...Tm) are set in advance. Directions ( theta m) to be followed at the respective route positions to reach the next route position or destination are calculated, and stored in a RAM (9) in association with data (xm,ym) indicating the respective route positions.
