<p>A magnetic catch comprises a magnetic assembly 1 and a catch plate 2, the assembly 1 including a magnet 3 and two pole shoes 4a, 4b biassed against a casing portion by abutment means 16 provided on a support member 11. The abutment means provides a gap between the pole shoes and the support member which allows the pole shoes to move relative to the magnet through aperture(s) 6a, 6b in casing 7 so that they can align themselves with the catch plate 2 to provide optimal contact therewith helps to prevent the magnet and pole shoes from rattling. The abutment means 16, as shown, comprises bump 16 formed integrally with the support member 11 which is engaged by resilient clip members 9 formed integrally with casing 7.
