<p>Exercise apparatus of the kind which simulates the patterns of resistance and acceleration encountered by the arms of a swimmer and thus facilitates dry land swimming training and which comprises a bench on which the swimmer, in use, lies with each of his arms linked by respective first and second connectors to resistance means against which the arm has to pull as it executes a swimming power stroke; the construction and arrangement of the connectors and the resistance means being such that the force exerted by the first connector has a lateral component perpendicular to the axis of the user's body, and the force exerted by the second connector has a lateral component perpendicular to the user's body and opposing the lateral component exerted by the first connector. In a preferred embodiment, the resistance means comprise respective weight sets, linked to the arms via ropes which incorporate a friction brake. <IMAGE></p> |
