PURPOSE:To protect a textile product and improve the finished state by facilitating the squeezing of liquid taking advantage of the temperature dependence of the physical properties of a caustic liquid to fiber. CONSTITUTION:A tubular knit fabric 1 to be mercerized is immersed in a caustic liquid at the treating liquid temperature of the conventional process, i.e., at ordinary temperature or below, and the mercerization of the fiber is proceeded. A caustic liquid heated at a high temperature (50-60 deg.C) is impregnated in the treated tubular knit fabric to facilitate the separation of the caustic soda from the fiber and to improve the flexibility of the fiber. Thereafter, the liquid is squeezed by a mangle 10 to complete the mercerization of a knit fabric effective for preventing the generation of edge mark. |
