PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a metal-coated polyethylene plexifilamentary film-fibril sheet having a low emmisivity, a high moisture vapor transmissivity, high resistance to permeation of air and water and a high specular gloss. CONSTITUTION: A metal-coated polyethylene plexifilamentary film-fibril sheet having an ultralow emmissivity and a high specular gloss is produced by a calendering treatment of a polyethylene film-fibril sheet between a smooth metal roll and a flexible elastic roll so as to form a sheet having a high specular gloss before vacuum deposition of the smooth surface having the high specular gloss. The metal-coated sheet is useful as a radiation barrier or a backlining of a roof for the purpose of energy saving.
