PURPOSE:To provide a hydrogen occluding electrode having a small impurity qantity and less composition deviation by reaction-sintering green compact, a molding of a powder material of an inexpensive metal, to be a hydrogen electrode. CONSTITUTION:A powder mixed body is made, in which a mol ratio composition in dry blending is La0.8Ce0.2Ni3.8Co0.7Al0.3Mn0.2, and is pressed to make green compact. A nichrome wire 4 is wound on one end of the green compact to be ignited and emitted in a vacuum. The synthetic reaction of a hydrogen occluding alloy is effected, and a reflected sintering zone 3 is propagated from a reaction-finished part 2 toward an unreacted green compact 1. This constitution eliminates contamination in the conversion and grinding process of a composition due to the vaporigation of a low-melting-point component element from a furnace material in the contamination melting process of an alloy in an alloy melting process. Electrode resistance and battery internal resistance to be obtained become low, and polarization, then a battery is discharged at high current, becomes small. |
