[Also in Divisions B6 and E1] A wall, floor, or ceiling panel comprises tiles 1 of ceramic, plastics, brick or stone, or wood blocks, pea gravel, stone chips, or strips 1 of wood or bamboo, bonded together with a silicone rubber 2. The panel may be formed by laying the tiles on a flexible or rigid backing, filling the inter-tile spaces with the rubber, and removing or retaining the backing as desired. Alternatively, the tiles &c. are embedded in the rubber which is supported on a wooden backing (Fig. 3). In both methods the rubber is vulcanized after the panel is assembled.</p> |
