摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To measure the impedance of charged liquid crystal by providing an electrode for measurement in an area where picture elements of a substrate on the opposite side from a substrate provided with a common picture element electrode are not formed. CONSTITUTION:The electrode MEL1 is provided in the area where the picture elements of the substrate on the opposite side from the substrate SUB1 provided with the common picture element electrode ITO 2 are not formed. For the purpose, a measurement voltage is applied between the electrode MEL1 for measurement and common picture element electrode ITO 2 and a current flowing through liquid crystal LC is measured to measure the impedance of the liquid crystal LC in the charged state without disassembling the liquid crystal display device. Further, when an orienting film is provided on the electrode MEL1 for measurement, the measurement voltage is applied between the electrode MEL1 for measurement and common picture element electrode ITO 2 and a brightness meter detects the brightness of the electrode part MEL1 for measurement to accurately detect the brightness characteristic, so a defect analysis of the brightness characteristic can exactly be taken.</p>
