The present invention provides a process for producing olefin-based or styrene-based polymers by polymerizing olefins or styrene or its derivatives in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a transition metal compound and (B) aluminoxane, which process is characterized in that as the (B) aluminoxane, an aluminoxane having a partially cross-linked structure is used. According to the present invention, the catalyst activity can be markedly increased by using aluminoxane having a partially cross-linked structure.
