A b s t r a c t The use of esters as fabric-softening agents Fatty acid ester derived from alkanolamines containing 1, 2 or 3 alkanol groups can be used as fabric-soften-ing agents. In many cases, it is useful if the alkanolamine esters are used in the form of their salts of inorganic or organic acids. The esters are readily biodegradable and have a surprisingly good effect.
