<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the discharge of noxious substances, by a method wherein a gas generated during the heating and melting of scrap of cars or the like in a metallurgical meltdown vessel to obtain molten steel is adjusted in temperature to be used as heating gas in the lime-burning process on a lime fixed-bed. CONSTITUTION: Scrap melted in an electric melting furnace 2 is poured into a cast ladle 5, offgases generated during the melting of the scrap are introduced into an exhaust duct 11 linked to an enclosure 1 together with the gas taken out of a duct 13 linked to a lid 12 of the melting furnace 2, and, with the operation of a burner 15 and a gas supplying device 16, the temperature of the offgases is conditioned to 1,000-1,500 deg.C, preferably to 1,200-1,500 deg.C. Then, after being mixed by a thermoreactor 17, the offgases are introduced into a two shaft type regenerative lime kiln 18, and the high temperature offgases are used as heating gas in the lime-burning process. Thus, the sulfur-and chlorine- containing components of the heating gas are absorbed on the burnt lime while the dust contained in the heating gas is separated.</p> |
