PURPOSE: To use a peptide having thrombospondin-like activity as a promoting agent/suppressing agent for cell adhesion, cell migration, cell bonding and cell diffusion of different cell systems or a platelet aggregation suppressing agent for the treatment/prevention, etc., of cancer, atherosclerosis, thrombosis and inflammatory diseases.£Metastasis, suppression, tumor proliferation, degeneration, angiogenesis. CONSTITUTION: Thrombospondin-like activity is promoted or suppressed and especially cell adhesion is suppressed by the administration of an effective amount of a compound of the formula [R1 is H, NH2 , acetyl, optionally protected terminal amino group containing <=100 amino acid residues or their desamino-type group; X1 and X5 are each a neutral/small-sized amino acid residue; X2 to X4 are each a neutral/nonpolar/large-sized/acyclic, a neutral/polar/ large-sized/acyclic, a neutral/polar/small-sized or a basic/acyclic amino acid residue; R2 is OH, COOH or an optionally protected terminal carboxy group containing <=100 amino acid residues (including their carboxamide-type or alkylamide-type compounds)] (the compound may be arbitrarily cyclized through the bond between X1 and X2 or X1 and X5 ). |
