960,428. Endless belt conveyers. GOODMAN MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 26, 1960 [Aug. 28, 1959], No. 29590/60. Heading B8A. In an endless belt conveyer wherein the belt is supported by idler roller assemblies carried by one or more cables extending longitudinally of the conveyer, a plurality of spaced transverse members, which are arched over the loadcarrying run of the belt, are carried by the cable or cables to prevent the belt from leaving the conveyer completely due to wind gusts. As shown, troughing idler roller assemblies 15 for supporting the load-carrying run of the belt are suspended between cables 13, 14, and rigid tubular bars 40, which also act as spreaders, are connected to the cables by U-shaped plates 44, 45. The return rollers 33 are suspended from the cables 13, 14 by chains 34 as described in co-pending Specification 941,201. In a modification (not shown), the spreader bars are connected directly to the ends of the troughing idler roller assemblies and are suspended from one or more cables not located at the ends of the assemblies. |
