PURPOSE:To stably secure a sufficient toner electrostatic charging quantity and a toner sticking quantity. CONSTITUTION:A developer carrier is constituted by mixing dielectric parts and conductor parts of extremely small area on the surface and incorporating an amino-based coupling agent in the dielectric parts. The surface of the developer carrier is charged electrostatically and selectively to produce many fine closed electric fields nearby the carrier surface, a nonmagnetic single--component developer is supplied onto the carrier and carried on the carrier surface with the fine closed electric fields, and an electrostatic latent image is visualized with the carried developer. When this developer carrier is used for the image forming method, the dielectric parts can be charged sufficiently to the positive polarity and enough closed electric fields to stick much toner can be produced. Further, the dielectric materials are charged positively, so the sufficient charging quantity can be given to negatively charged toner.
