PURPOSE: To provide a personal data card which can sufficiently protect a semiconductor chip and can be easily manufactured at low cost, satisfying the requirements of ISO standard. CONSTITUTION: The personal data card 10 has a laminated construction comprising a circuit board and a structural member. The circuit board 140 is comprised of a super-stabilized polyester film. One or more semiconductor chips 200 are mounted on the circuit board. The structural member 130 comprises a heat- stabilized polyester film and a heat-activated adhesive layer 133 is provided on each of the top and bottom surfaces 131, 132 of the member 130. The structural member has openings 136, 137 each of which receives a component 200, 5 on the circuit board and into which encapsulants 300, 400 are injected respectively. If the encapsulants are cured, they become harder than a card body of polyester. A thin film of polyvinyl chloride is provided on the top and bottom surfaces of the card. |
