RULED LINE EXTRACTING DEVICE FOR DOCUMENT IMAGE

PURPOSE:To extract a ruled line even when a document has complicated layout or is recorded while being inclined. CONSTITUTION:A ruled line search part 1 searches the next picture element constituting the ruled line according to the picture element constituting the ruled line of an input image by using a mask showing the search range and the search order, and a ruled line trace part 2 stores the next picture element constituting this searched ruled line. Therefore, the ruled line is traced and the processing is moved to this next picture element. A ruled line discrimination part 3 discriminates a result obtained by the trace and extracts the ruled line.
