METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR MANUFACTURING WEB

PURPOSE: To solve problems of a necessity of a complicated mechanism to couple a clip and lack of a universality in a prior art for treating to relax a web of a biaxially oriented thermoplastic film or the like in an MD direction. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing a web comprises the steps of orienting the web in a plane of a direction (MD direction) for advancing the web, heat treating the oriented web, changing a side edge of the web in a plane of a lengthwise direction from a range that the edge of the web is substantially nonlinear to a range that the edge of the web is substantially linear in the case of heat treating and/or thereafter, and contracting the web at least to 0.1% in the MD direction in the case of heat treating and/or thereafter.
