A coupling device for bonding between a shadow mask and a frame of the cathode ray tube provides a shadow mask supporting bed (33) raised and lowered through a given distance by a hoist (34) when the frame (10) is held in a correct position, thereby the skirt portions (21) of the shadow mask (20) inserted into the frame (10). With the shadow mask raised, several pressure plates (32) on reciprocating rods (35) are brought to bear on the skirt portions (21). The top inner sections of the pressure plates (32) may incorporate recesses (31) for holding the frame (10). The coupling device bonds between the shadow mask and the CRT frame as simple structure.
