PURPOSE:To ensure favorable engine brake and accelerating force without shift-up operation at need so as to improve the operating feeling by prohibiting shifting of an automatic transmission when an accelerator opening is decreased, or totally closed, or the increase speed is larger than a preset value. CONSTITUTION:The optimum gear step corresponding to the car velocity and accelerator opening respectively detected by sensors 5,6 is judged by a means 7 according to a shift map stored by a means 4, and an automatic transmission is controlled to be changed to the optimum gear step. In this case, it is judged by a means 9 that an accelerator opening is decreased. Further, totally closing of the accelerator opening is judged by a means 10. The actuating amount of an accelerator unit time is judged by a means 11. When an accelerator opening is decreased, or totally closed, or the increase speed is larger than a preset value, shifting of an automatic transmission is prohibited by a means 12. That is, shift instruction to a solenoid valve 14, an actuator 15 and a clutch 16 from a means 13 is prohibited. |
