Repairing power station pipe - by supporting it on brackets mounted on compression springs

The vertical pipe is subjected to high pressure and temp. which causes a change in its length. It is repaired by fitting a reinforcing sleeve (4) around the pipe (1) and two brackets are welded to this ring to support the pipe on compression springs (2). Each bracket consists of a vertical plate (9) which is welded to two parallel vertical strips which are welded to the reinforcing sleeve (4). Horizontal plates supported by gussets (8) are welded to the outer surfaces of the vertical plates and support the pipe on the springs (2). The length of the vertical plate (9) is such that it forms a guide for the vertical movement of the pipe (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Repair of pipes used in power stations. The pipe can be repaired in-situ.
