The layout for using the solar energy to heat water for domestic purposes incorporates a storage cylinder (8) and between that and the collector (10) is a circulation pump (7) which acts in accordance with the collector output temperature. At the lower end of the storage cylinder, the pump takes in cold water and feeds it to the solar collector which which heats it without the aid of a heat exchanger. It supplies it to the upper end of the storage cylinder near to the domestic hot water draw off connection. The cylinder is thus filled with a layer of domestic hot water. USE/ADVANTAGE - A frost stat moniters the temperature in the collector activating valves (1-4) to shut it off from the system as necessary.
