PURPOSE:To improve performance of an alcohol sensor and to attain optimal operation of an internal combustion engine, by detecting the alcohol content of alcohol mixed fuel by use of an electrostatic capacity means, and controlling the fuel supply rate and the ignition timing according to the detected alcohol content. CONSTITUTION:By detecting the change in the electrostatic capacity of fuel by an electrostatic capacity means 3 disposed in a fuel passage 1, the content of alcohol mixed in fuel can be detected since the dielectric constants of gasoline and alcohol are known. The density of O2 in the exhaust gas, temperature of a catalytic converter 13, temperature of cooling water, engine speed, pressure in the intake pipe, opening of a throttle valve 15 and alcohol content are detected respectively by an O2 sensor 33, temperature sensor 34, water temperature sensor 35, crank angle sensor 36, pressure sensor 37, angle sensor 38 and alcohol sensor 39. By processing these data by a computor 40, it is enabled to obtain optimal air-fuel ratio and ignition timing. |
