PURPOSE:To provide a nickel electrode for an alkaline secondary battery, in which a high current discharge characteristic is improved with the electric conductivity of a metallic fiber porous body raised, by using the metallic fiber porous body, having no dispersion of metal plating, as a conductive core body. CONSTITUTION:In an alkaline secondary battery nickel electrode composed by filling a conductive core body with a paste nickel active material having a main component of nickel hydroxide, the conductive core body is a metallic fiber porous body, composed by applying conductive treatment and then metal plating to an organic-fiber state nonwoven fabric and baking the said nonwoven fabric in a reducing atmosphere, and silver of 0.01wt.% or more is contained in the metallic fiber porous body. Consequently the conductivity of the metallic fiber porous body is improved and also the large current characteristic of a paste type nickel electrode is sharply improved. |
