Carrier bag production system - forms handles from sheets folded to form arms secured at ends to further sheets

The system produces carrier-bags with handles, each of the latter being U-shaped and with a reinforcing strip. The finished handles are applied in pairs and spaced apart to a strip of material which is then formed into a hose and parted off. To form a handle (11,12), a sheet is first parted off from a paper strip (10), its width being equal to the extended length of the handle (13). During onward transport, the sheet is folded at right angles to the travel direction. The opposite ends of the folded strip are folded at 90 deg. to it to form the handle (13). The ends of the parallel handle arms are secured to a strip of material (32) having parallel weakened lines, and between two adjacent lines. ADVANTAGE - Simple, reliable, and greatly increased rate of output.
