Coupling between tool-holder and machine tool

The mechanism consists of a cylindical toolholder coupling piece (5) with a coaxial pin (23) which locate in the coupling body (3) and an integral draw bolt (37) respectively. Clamping is facilitated by bevel gear arrangement (35, 41) which causes the draw bolt (37) to be pulled, by means of a thread arrangement (40), so as to cause the cam mechanism (69) to act upon the angled faces (19, 71). The clamping device (51) may have an eccentric cam offset from its axis (43) which locates in a recess in the drawbolt (37) and by rotating the clamping mechanism about its axis causes the drawbolt to be moved along the major axis (11).
