The switch comprises two separate switch bodies (2,10) fitted with male and female spring loaded covers (4,12) that engage with one another when the switch bodies are pressed together. Each spring cover is located over a central peg (23) that fits in a locating hole (26) in the switch body and is tensioned by a coil spring (21,31). A ridge (30) on one cover (12) engages between four pegs (20) on the other cover (4) while two protruding contacts on the latter engage with reception holes on the first cover. As the covers are depressed into their respective housings, grooves (5) in each cover engage with pegs (6,14) in their respective switch bodies to rotate the switch covers. As the covers rotate contacts on the switch covers come into contact with contacts on the rotating covers, completing the electrical circuit. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for switching off machine when cover or door is opened. Uses minimum of components to construct effective safety switch.
