HYDROGEN STORAGE ELECTRODE, ITS MANUFACTURE, AND METAL-OXIDE-HYDROGEN STORAGE BATTERY AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To provide a battery having a long life and stable quality by preventing the occurrence of a short circuit which is a cause of capacity lowering, in a metallic-oxide-hydrogen storage battery composed by using a hydrogen storage alloy electrochemically storing and discharging hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:A chelate complexing agent is contained in a battery. Adopted methods for containing are as follows: (1) a method to use the solution of the chelate complexing agent as a paste solvent in manufacturing a negative electrode, (2) a method to impregnate a battery composing material in the solution, and (3) a method to melt the complexing agent in an electrolyte. As for (3), the complexing agent is made an ethylenediamine derivative having carboxylic acid as a functional group, and an adding quantity of the complexing agent is made 10<-6>-10<-2>mol/l to 1g hydrogen storage alloy. This can restrain the deposition of metal ions eluted from a negative electrode, and can obtain a metallic-oxide-hydrogen storage battery in which capacity lowering due to a short circuit is unoccurring even charging and discharging are repeated.
