<p>A polycyclic carbapenem compound of the formula (Ia'), (Ib') or (Ic') <CHEM> [wherein COOR<2> is a carboxy group which may be esterified; R<a'> is -(CH2)m-K<a>-(CH2)n-U<a'>; J is O or S; R<b'> is -(CH2)m-K<b>-(CH2)n-U<b>'; J' is O, S or CH2; R<c'> is - (CH2)m-K<c>-(CH2)n-U<c'>, -(CH2)m-K<d>-(CH2)n-U<d> or a pair of groups, one of which is a hydroxy group, with the other being a hydroxy group or an alkylsulfonylamino group, which may be substituted, in the position ortho to the first-mentioned hydroxy group] or a salt thereof are useful as an antibacterial agent.</p> |
