PURPOSE:To obtain focusing accuracy which is practically sufficient even by manual focusing by forcibly stopping a motor when the focusing state of a focus means is detected and maintaining the focusing state. CONSTITUTION:A converting means converts the rotation quantity and rotation direction of a manual operation ring into an electric signal and a driving means drives the motor 7 as a driving source for moving a focus lens 12 in the direction of the optical axis in response to the electric signal. A focus detecting means detects the focus state of a subject and a control means forcibly stops the motor 7 even during the driving of the motor 7 based upon the electric signal when the focus detecting means detects the focusing state, and maintain the focusing state. When the motor 7 is actually stopped at the time of the focusing, a microcomputer 20 performs the stop control even at a halfway point of a driving pulse when detecting the focusing state, so the motor 7 does not stop even when exceeding the depth of focus greatly. |
