A modular implant system for assembly by a surgeon comprises at least two implant components 1, 20 and a solid plastic film 21 layer to be positioned between the components, the plastic film being able to adhere to the components when activated by heating. The plastic film may be composed of a thermoplastic resin such as a polyaryletherketone.
