A mixer for dental fillings has an elongated mixing container 28 attached to an arm 31 which is oscillated in a horizontal plane about a vertical pivot 32 spaced from the centre of the container, by a motor 33 and crank mechanism 34. The container may slope downwards slightly to assist the centrifugal force in urging the mixed filling 37 into an end cap 36 which is a push fit or secured by a bayonet joint. The filling components are metered by pockets 24a within shaft 24 from storage containers 22 into the funnel 26 which communicates with the mixing container 28 by way of a flexible tube 27. The motor 33 is controlled by a hand wheel 35 through a timing mechanism 40. The recitation of prior art refers to a mixer having an elongated container reciprocated longitudinally by a crank motion along a linear path determined by a sleeve on a guide rod. |
