PURPOSE: To provide an electric traction motor which accomplishes positioning accuracy at a nanometer level by expanding or contracting itself, ranging from one of microscopic dimension to a very large-sized dimension, and which dispenses with a conventional bearing and lubrication and can be embodied so that it can operate sufficiently, even in a strong magnetic field or in severe application of impurities for ionization. CONSTITUTION: An electric traction motor 2 gives compulsive rotational or rectilinear positioning to a shaft 12 by a pair of actuators 6 which are electrically excited, so as to generate a cyclic traction running operation. An actuator for smooth walking operation gives high mechanical efficiency and long life by removing sliding friction. That actuator is excited by a highly efficient electric drive system, and it positions a relatively large area of traction member 8 which matches the speed of a motor shaft. An appropriate example has a piezoelectric electric actuator which has a layer, consisting of a shearing transformed piezoelectric substance. |
