<p>PURPOSE: To provide a circuit breaker of a compact structure which automatically shuts an electric circuit and pretect the circuit, when electric current increases in the circuit or other abnormal incident occurs. CONSTITUTION: Terminals of a circuit breaker 10 are arranged so as to keep wide and flat side faces of respective terminals at gaps from each other in the transverse direction in a housing chamber, and a thermostat member 16 has one end part fixed in exposed side face of one terminal, is extended along the wall of the housing chamber, and has a contact part in the other end. The contact is made of a material which is corroded, while the circuit breaker repeats cycle operations. The thermostat metal member is so constituted as to have a part whose cross section surface area is narrowed and the crosssectional part with a small surface area is burned in the case the contact is deposited in another terminal or stuck to another terminal, so that the thermostat member is divided into two sections, and consequently the circuit is opened.</p> |
