The device for effecting the adjustment of the orientation of a steering wheel on a shaft, which are joined together by fastening means, comprises a sleeve interposed between the end of the shaft and the hub of the steering wheel. The sleeve and the shaft define between them an annular chamber in which is housed a friction member opposing their spontaneous relative rotation. The fine adjustment, limited to a value of about 9.degree., is made with the aid of an arrangement which comprises a control mechanism, amplitude limiters, and stops. These stops ensure continuity of transmission of the torque exerted on the steering wheel to the shaft in the event of the slackening of the fastening means or failure of the amplitude limiters. |
